IMPORTANT INFORMATION
AmeriCorps VISTA is an anti-poverty program designed to provide resources to nonprofit organizations and public agencies to increase your capacity to lift communities out of poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members dedicate a year of full-time service with an organization to create or expand programs designed to support individuals and communities in overcoming poverty.

This Word document version of the application is provided as a resource to support organizations in developing the application. All applications must be submitted through this online form to be considered.

AmeriCorps VISTA member activities must be capacity-building for your organization, so you can increase the reach, effectiveness, efficiency, or resources for your anti-poverty programming.


We have identified five core position types and corresponding duties that VISTA members have been approved to complete. 






OneStar supports host sites in recruitment including promotion through national platforms. However, we look to host sites for local promotion and within your networks.

Regardless of in-person or virtual service, all AmeriCorps VISTA members must live in the community they serve.
ABOUT YOUR PROPOSED VISTA PLACEMENT(S)

AmeriCorps VISTA member activities must be capacity-building for your organization, so you can increase the reach, effectiveness, efficiency, or resources for your anti-poverty programming.


We have identified five core position types and corresponding duties that VISTA members have been approved to complete. This is not an exhaustive list, and you are not limited to only the position types and activities outlined below. 


We recommend selecting 1-2 position types below for each requested VISTA position. Within the selected position type, select as many member activities as you feel are achievable and necessary during a one-year term of full-time service. You will have the opportunity to further customize and specify duties after OneStar has reviewed your host site application.
